The First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) also refer to web page The First Home Owner Grant is an entitlement introduced by the Commonwealth Government to assist first home buyers in purchasing their first home. This Commonwealth Government payment was introduced to reduce the impact of the GST component of purchasing your first home. It is a payment of up to $7,000 that you can receive if you qualify for purchasing a property to be used as your primary place of residence. This means that if you are purchasing an investment property, you will not be eligible to receive the grant. This grant is only available to individuals that have not owned a home previously, so if you or the co - owner of your purchase have ever owned a home before, you will not qualify for the grant.
